Kartik Purnima In Odisha

The Month of kartik is considered to be the most sacred among all the twelve months of the year According Odia calendar. During this month all the pious Hindus refrain from eating fish, meat or egg. All of them take pre-dawn bath and visit temples as a matter of routine And Enjoy to Pray God At evening Time At “Tulsi”.

Every day All The Old Women take food only once in the afternoon which is Called ‘Habisha’. The last five days are called  ‘Panchaka’.

Devotees offered Puja on the banks of the water bodies on the occasion of Boita Bandan to recall the voyage of Odia traders to distant lands and safety and prosperity of their kins.
